Biography of Sarah Silverman

Sarah Silverman, an American satirist, writer, actress, and singer, is often referred to as Big S in the genre of stand-up comedy. In her jokes, Silverman touches upon social taboos and controversial topics such as racism, sexism, the Holocaust, and religion. She was first noticed as a writer and occasional cast member on the popular American TV show "Saturday Night Live." Currently, Sarah is a star and producer of her own sitcom, which premiered on February 1, 2007. She often uses a caricatured image of a Jewish-American princess, overflowing with mocking fanaticism, stereotypes, and dissonances between ethnic groups and religious denominations. Many of Silverman's sketches and jokes have sparked strong protests from ethnic, religious, and social organizations that position themselves as defenders of morality, whom the outspoken writer loves to satirize.

Her national attention came during the 1993-1994 season of "Saturday Night Live." However, after a year on the show, Silverman received a fax notification of her dismissal, which she even turned into a parody. Silverman was also a cast member of the sketch show "Mr. Show" and played Emily in "Seinfeld," Rain Robinson in the sci-fi series "Star Trek: Voyager," as well as appearing in supporting roles in films such as "There's Something About Mary," "Say It Isn't So," "School of Rock," "The Way of the Gun," "The School for Scoundrels," "Rent," and others. Her own female stand-up show was released as a feature film called "Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic" in 2005.

Personal Life and Controversies

In 2006, Silverman ranked 50th on Maxim magazine's "Hot 100 Women" list, and in 2007, she reached 29th place, appearing on the cover of the magazine and hosting the "MTV Movie Awards" ceremony. In January 2008, she appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" to show her boyfriend, Jimmy, a special video for the song "I'm Fucking Matt Damon," sung as a duet with Matt Damon. The video quickly became a sensation on YouTube, and a month later, Jimmy Kimmel responded with his own song, "I'm Fucking Ben Affleck." On September 13, 2008, Silverman won a Creative Arts Emmy as the writer of the song "I'm Fucking Matt Damon."

Silverman's television sitcom, "The Sarah Silverman Program," was the highest-rated show on Comedy Central for three years, with an average of 1.81 million viewers. She was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and appeared at the ceremony wearing fake mustaches. Silverman has openly stated that she does not drink alcohol because it makes her nauseous. However, she has joked about smoking marijuana during her performances, which can be seen in the comedy documentary "Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles" with Doug Benson.

Sarah openly discusses her lifelong battle with clinical depression and the medication she takes, Zoloft, to maintain her emotional well-being. She has also candidly shared her struggles with bedwetting during her teenage years, joking that the last time her bed got wet was when she was fired from "Saturday Night Live."

In July 2008, it was announced that Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel had split after five years together. However, rumors of a reconciliation started surfacing in October when they attended Howard Stern's wedding together. But in March 2009, their relationship once again hit a rough patch.

Silverman has chosen not to have biological children in order to avoid the possibility of passing on her depression.
