Ryan Starr: Biography

Ryan Starr (Tiffany Ryan Montgomery) was born on November 21, 1982, in a middle-class Christian family in Sanlande, Los Angeles, California, USA. With a lineage that includes French, Colombian, Irish, and Peruvian roots, Starr auditioned for the first season of the popular reality show "American Idol," using her given name. According to the memoirs of media mogul and impresario Simon Cowell in "I Don't Mean to be Rude," during her audition, Ryan was "shy and reserved," but "Paula Abdul saw her star potential and decided to become her mentor." Cowell described Montgomery as quickly becoming self-assured, changing her name to "Ryan Starr" in the next stage of the competition and insisting that rock music suited her more than pop music.

Success in "American Idol"

In the semifinals, Starr chose to perform "The Frim Fram Sauce" instead of the typical pop hits that other contestants sang, which earned her a spot in the top ten. The following week, she opened the first live episode of "American Idol" by singing Stevie Wonder's "If You Really Love Me." Praised by the judges, Ryan finally won the favor of Cowell, who stated, "It was a star performance, I liked it." After a three-year legal battle with the record company, she gained freedom from her obligations in 2005. Starr released the exclusive single "My Religion" on iTunes, which reached the top of the "Billboard Hot Digital Songs" chart and became the most downloaded single in iTunes' history, selling 360,000 copies worldwide.

Acting and Reality TV
